World Records Fall for Billfish Safaris Fishing Shows!
The success of Billfish Safaris has not gone unnoticed in the sportfishing world and we are proud to say that we have played host to a number of different big game sportfishing television shows. We are an annual stop for Henry Waszcuks, "Fishing the Flats" show where we are pleased to say we put him on some monster fish on an annual basis including his own world record Almaco Jack!
In addition to Henry, we have played host to multiple shows with marine wildlife photographer (and our friend), Bill Boyce. Bill and his camera crew from IGFA Anglers Digest visited us in the summer of 2008 intent on capturing the phenomenal inshore fishing at a secret spot we call "Jurassic Park". What ensued can only be described as an epic bite which produced everything from billfish to roosterfish and what was only supposed to be one episode became two episodes—including a women's 30 lb. line class world record Jack Crevalle for multiple record-holder Sjon Harless… all caught on camera!
Bill enjoyed our location and phenomenal fishing so much he returned in December 2010 with his new show, "IGFA Saltwater Adventures". December is a transition month for us here in Guanacaste but, that does not mean we can't catch fish. We spent the first couple of days chasing yellowfin tuna on light line but, really wanted to catch another world record for Bill's show. High winds had prevented us from capitalizing on our secret spot but, on the final day of shooting we had a break in the winds and rolled up to our spot. The scene was out of a Discovery channel documentary as thousands of birds, fish and humpback whales attacked a krill bloom. Taking advantage of the productive conditions, Billfish Safaris' own Sjon Harless boated not one, but two women's line class record mullet snapper in just under an hour!

Henry Fishes with Us Too!
If you're an avid angler who, when not on the water fishing loves to watch top-notch fishing action, then you probably already know about Fishing the Flats with Henry Waszczuk. A former Canadian Football League star player, Henry traded in his pads for a fishing pole long ago and is celebrating his 25th year on television… that just may be the longest running fishing show on television!
Henry was kind enough to share some video from the many shows he's filmed with us here in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.. and we sure thank him for letting us share them with you here.
The first video features Henry on some BIG, BIG roosterfish that are quite common here. If you've always wanted to catch a world-class "Pez Gallo"… Guanacaste is the place to do it.
The second video features almaco jack and toothy cubera snapper (dogtooth snapper). To cap off this video, Jamey Harless II shares some tips on submitting world records to the IGFA and his angling wife, Sjon Harless, talks about her recent "Grand Slam" of billfish caught a few years back.
